Jeffrey T. Kubo, OD, FAAO

Optometrist

Jeffrey T. Kubo, OD, FAAO received his Doctorate in Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) in 1993 where he graduated with honors. He was also recognized with numerous academic and clinical awards, but he is distinctly proud of his selection as one of thirteen recipients in the United States to receive the Health Professions Scholarship through the United States Air Force. After graduation, he was stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where he served as the Assistant Chief of Optometry. During his tenure there, Dr. Kubo architected a novel diabetic screening program for the detection of high-risk patients, resulting in countless sight-saving referrals. He also reengineered the Aircrew Contact Lens Program responsible for ensuring continual flight crew visual readiness

Dr. Kubo has also been an educator, having served as an adjunct faculty member at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. His passion for teaching inspired his students and he was able to impart marked improvements in the proficiency of the clinic’s technical staff and the overall development of his students. Deservedly, Dr. Kubo was recognized for his work with the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service.

In 1996, Dr. Kubo was appointed Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). This is an honor held only by ten percent of practicing optometrists. Founded in 1922, the Academy’s mission is to promote the art and science of vision care through lifelong learning. Academy Fellows are held to the highest ethical and professional standards of practice.

Dr. Kubo made the Conejo Valley his home in 1996 when he opened his practice inside JCPenney’s at the Oaks Mall. He expertly served and cared for his patients at that location, and in 2022, was presented with an opportunity to open up his own practice. As lead of the Dr. Jeffrey Kubo Optometry team, he promises to provide the highest level of care for all his patients.

​​​​​​​In his free time, Dr. Kubo tries to spend as much time with his wife and son. He has a passion for watching and playing basketball and claims he will play until his back, knees and ankles tell him otherwise.
